Key Skills and Background

Tom has been working as a STMS with Traffic Systems for over two years. Tom manages all our traffic management on all our construction sites throughout the wider Auckland region.

Tom has an excellent understanding and working knowledge of traffic management requirements on busy roading construction sites.

Before joining Traffic Systems, Tom work for ITS for 10 years as a senior STMS. While working for ITS, Tom has gained extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of Traffic Management including closures on major Auckland motorways. Tom was the senior STMS and managed all the traffic management required throughout the entire construction period for PROJECT GREENLANE. Tom has completed all training to the requirements of the Transit NZ Interim Code of Practise for Temporary Traffic Management and is now a fully qualified Traffic Controller and Site Traffic Management Supervisor. Tom has managed many Level 1, 2 & 3 traffic management sites and managing the sites during construction.

Tom is very well known in the traffic management industry in Auckland is well respected for his ability and knowledge in the traffic management field.

Tom has a clear understanding of the ‘big picture’ requirements in his Project Manager role and has a strong track record of excellent logistics and organisational management.

Relevant Project Experience

Tom has very successfully undertaken traffic management various roading, minor safety, and special cycleway projects for both Waitakere and Auckland City Councils involving road widening, footpath and cycleway construction and intersection and traffic signal upgrades.

Millbrook Road Cycleway

Waitakere City Council 2008

Tom did the traffic management on the second phase of the Twin Streams project undertaking construction of the Millbrook Road walkway and cycleway including pile foundations, kerb and channel construction, drainage works, retaining walls, road marking, street lighting, and vegetative landscaping.

This was a challenging project that required very good traffic management as it involved footpath, retaining wall, boardwalk and kerb and channel construction along very busy Level 2 arterial roads in Waitakere City.
